The Manager - Employee Mental Health and Wellbeing Promotion and Programs leads a team of 5 people initially that manages key department employee mental health and wellbeing programs.

About the Role

The Manager – Employee Mental Health and Wellbeing Promotion and Programs leads a team of 5 people initially that manages key department employee mental health and wellbeing programs. In addition, the Manager will lead the new employee mental health and promotion component of the Employee Mental Health Reform. This component focuses on promoting mental health and wellbeing for school and corporate staff, with a particular emphasis on improving uptake of the Employee Wellbeing Support Services and other related mental health and wellbeing support services.

The Manager will empower and enable a team, including regionally based staff, to conduct strong communications and engagement to encourage and support more school staff to proactively use the mental health and wellbeing services. This will require working closely with other ESWD teams, as well as Area and Regional workforces, ensuring alignment with broader departmental priorities.

The Manager will also lead a team that provides mental health and wellbeing policy advice, and is responsible for managing contracts, monitoring program outcomes, using data-driven insights to improve effectiveness of the programs and better understand staff needs to tailor programs accordingly.

The Manager will have demonstrated experience and skills in managing teams, wellbeing promotion, contract management, procurement, policy and an understanding of the Victorian Government education sector.

Please note, as this role will manage regionally based positions regular travel will be required. Sufficient notice will be provided for this travel.

About the Division

The Employee Safety and Wellbeing Division (ESWD) is committed to the Department's vision to create healthy and safe working and learning environments for Department employees to thrive and succeed.

ESWD performs its functions through several teams that span from prevention, through to response and recovery, along with strategy, advice and support. These teams adopt a holistic approach for supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our workforce across schools, central and regional offices. This includes Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Workers' Compensation policy advice and support, for both physical and mental health and wellbeing. The objectives of the Division are to:

* Promote positive wellbeing in learning and working environments
* Prevent against known and expected risks to health, safety and wellbeing
* Respond swiftly and effectively to manage potential issues as they emerge and prevent injuries
* Support employees to recover from injury and illness and return to work.

About the Department

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

Qualifications and Experience

Desirable: Relevant tertiary qualification in mental health, education or related field.

Essential: Current valid Victorian drivers license and Working with Children Check
