POSITION | UAE Animal Trainer LOCATION VIP Private Estate - Abu Dhabi,UAE The client will apply for the work visa and provide relocation support if the candidate is not local. QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS High School qualification (desirable but not mandatory). Strong passion for animal welfare and conservation. Ability to work safely with large and potentially dangerous animals. Good communication skills; English required, Arabic desirable but not mandatory. Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong observation, record-keeping, and teamwork skills. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a zoo, wildlife park, sanctuary, or similar animal care environment. Hands-on experience with large cats and/or other exotic species preferred. Experience in behavioural training, enrichment planning, and safe animal handling. Familiarity with veterinary support procedures, including medication administration. Experience conducting educational demonstrations and engaging with the public is an advantage. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Animal Care and Husbandry Feed large cats and birds according to approved dietary requirements. Clean and maintain enclosures, ensuring proper hygiene, temperature, and humidity. Monitor animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or behavioural changes and report concerns to the Head of Department. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the Veterinarian. Maintain accurate records of feeding, health, enrichment, and breeding or behavioural observations. Training and Enrichment Train selected species of large cats and birds using safe, ethical, and species-appropriate techniques. Implement behavioural training to support husbandry and veterinary procedures. Design, prepare, and execute enrichment programmes to encourage natural behaviours and reduce stereotypical behaviours. Enclosure Maintenance Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of enclosures and equipment. Assist with the design, modification, and improvement of animal habitats to enhance welfare and safety. Interactions and Education Conduct educational demonstrations and supervised animal interactions where permitted. Ensure all demonstrations and interactions comply with safety and welfare standards. Answer visitor questions and provide accurate information about animals and conservation initiatives. Other Animals Training and Handling Assist with training and care of other animal species as required. Carry out behaviour modification programmes when necessary. Prepare diets and assist with feeding routines. Prepare and implement enrichment plans for various species. Maintain accurate training, health, and enrichment records.
