The Role
Join our team as a Gardener – Handyperson and play a key role in caring for a special school environment nestled within the natural bushlands of the Perth Hills. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for native landscapes to make a lasting impact on a vibrant school community.
In this role, you will maintain and enhance our extensive grounds with a strong focus on native bushland management. Responsibilities include caring for turf areas, garden beds, supporting school learning environments and horticulture spaces, nurturing native plants, preserving the natural character of the bush, and maintaining hard landscaping features such as courts and paved areas to keep the school safe, functional, and welcoming.
Role Requirements and Skills
We are ideally seeking someone with experience or a strong interest in native bushland care. Knowledge of local flora, sustainable land management practices, weed control, and habitat awareness will be highly valued. The ability to work with the natural environment to maintain the unique character of our school grounds is essential.
Collaboration and Safety
Working as part of a collaborative team of two gardeners, you will work with the Manager of Corporate Services as the gardening facilities team to develop safe work procedures, undertake risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements. Eligibility
To work with us, you will need to:
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
