We work closely with Foster and Kinship Carers, families, and community partners to help children in out-of-home care thrive.

About the role

We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated Practitioners, Foster & Kinship Care to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, based within Dalby, QLD and working with caseloads across the local region.

The Practitioner, Foster & Kinship Care plays a key role in recruiting, training, assessing and supporting Foster and Kinship Carers to meet the individual needs of children and young people in out-of-home care (OOHC). You will work closely with carers, families and the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services to promote stability, safety and positive outcomes for children and young people.

This is an exciting opportunity for skilled practitioners who are passionate about child protection, trauma-informed practice and building strong, sustainable care environments.

Please note: This position requires semi-regular and overnight travel to Roma, QLD to attend team meetings. An ASQ vehicle will be supplied for travel purposes only and travel allowance will be provided.

Responsibilities

- Recruit, train, assess and support Foster and Kinship Carers in line with Anglicare's policies, frameworks and legislative requirements.
- Conduct thorough carer assessments and renewals, exploring strengths, vulnerabilities and support needs within the care environment.
- Provide supervision, guidance and targeted support to carers, ensuring they are equipped to meet the needs of children and young people in their care.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with carers and their families, promoting stability and wellbeing within placements.
- Deliver and facilitate pre-service and ongoing training, including carer learning and development programs.
- Undertake regular home visits, case discussions and joint work with Departmental staff and other stakeholders.
- Participate in matching processes and coordinate support arrangements for children and young people, including respite, brokerage and therapeutic interventions.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation in accordance with licensing, policy and quality assurance requirements.
- Contribute to a supportive and professional team culture and engage in supervision and ongoing professional development.
- Participate in the after-hours on-call roster to support carers and placements as required.

Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements

- Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Behavioural or Social Sciences (or similar).
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- Current Licensed Care Service (LCS).
- Current Queensland Driver Licence.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desired).
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.

About You

- Applied knowledge of child protection legislation and the Child Protection Act (1999).
- Skilled in child centred, family-focused practice, with an understanding of trauma and its impact on child development.
- Experience in completing complex documentation, including carer assessments and care plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and engage with diverse individuals and families.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in crisis situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Competent in using MS Word, Excel and data management systems for record keeping and reporting.
