Job Role:
* Provide quality support and services to people with mental illness living in supported accommodation.
* Deliver support that is client focused, community oriented, and sensitive.
* Help individuals maintain key organisational and other relationships, which facilitate independent living.
* Increase access and equity for clients within a collaborative recovery model of psychosocial rehabilitation.
* Support individuals to improve daily living skills.
* Encourage healthy living habits and personal hygiene practices.
* Support clients in daily household tasks.
* Mentor clients in building productive relationships and effective conflict resolution strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A minimum of Cert IV in mental health or community services related discipline (preferably a diploma or degree).
* Demonstrated effective listening, empathy and communication skills.
* Experience working with people experiencing mental illness.
* Ability to think calmly and sensitively deal with distressed individuals.
* Understanding of duty of care principles, rights to privacy and confidentiality.
* Ability to help program participants link with relevant community resources and promote their rights, responsibilities and recovery.
* Capacity to work with families, carers, government agencies and community services.
* Will to abide by Disability Services Acts and Standards and Work Health & Safety Act.
* Competence in Microsoft Office.
* Nights shifts and rotating 24/7 roster availability.
* Blue Card eligibility or possession.
* NDIS worker screening clearance eligibility or possession.
* Current driver's license.
