The Opportunity
Join UniSC and play a vital role in delivering high‐quality, hands‐on laboratory experiences for undergraduate students. You will work closely with academic staff to prepare materials, set up and maintain teaching laboratories, and ensure all equipment and facilities are safe, compliant, and ready to support courses in areas such as general science chemistry, cell biology and human physiology. Using your technical expertise, you will assist with method development, implement new techniques, perform routine equipment maintenance, and contribute to a smooth, efficient, and engaging learning environment that supports student success.
You will
* prepare and maintain teaching laboratories and equipment for general science and physiology courses;
* support method development and implement new techniques in laboratory teaching; and
* ensure safe, compliant, and well‐resourced learning environments that enable student success.
About you
You are a highly organised, collaborative, and technically skilled professional with strong analytical and problem‐solving abilities. You communicate effectively across all levels of staff, maintain positive working relationships, and thrive in fast‐paced academic environments. Whether working independently or as part of a team, you contribute to a supportive, safe, and inclusive workplace culture.
You will possess
* Completion of a relevant degree, or a combination of relevant experience and education/training;
* Previous experience providing technical support in general chemistry, biology and physiology, including preparing reagents, operating standard lab equipment, and performing routine laboratory procedures;
* Working knowledge of WHS, laboratory safety, chemical and biological handling, and risk management procedures;
* Strong organisational, communication and problem‐solving skills; and
* Current Class C Driver's Licence.
