Pickled Octopus Seafood & Thai Café is seeking a skilled Chef to join our culinary team in creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

The candidate in mind will be expected to perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
•Collaborate closely with the Head Chef to develop and refine recipes, ensuring that each dish adheres to the restaurant's standards for authenticity and quality while also reflecting innovative culinary trends within Thai cuisine.
•Prepare and cook a wide range of Thai dishes, utilizing traditional cooking methods and techniques to bring out the complex flavours and textures inherent to Thai cuisine.
•Assist in the design and execution of special menu items for holidays, special events, and seasonal offerings, contributing creative ideas and leveraging expertise in Thai cooking to enhance the menu's appeal.
•Conduct detailed preparations of ingredients, ensuring all components are ready for cooking and presentation, including but not limited to chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and preparing sauces and pastes using traditional Thai ingredients.
•Ensure all dishes are cooked to order and presented according to the restaurant's high standards for quality and aesthetics, paying close attention to the balance of flavours, colour, and texture.
•Monitor cooking temperatures, timings, and flavourings to produce dishes that are consistently excellent, making adjustments as needed based on ingredient quality and diner preferences.
•Work efficiently under pressure, especially during peak dining times, to manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining calm and focus.
•Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure customer dietary requests are accommodated, feedback is incorporated, and the dining experience is seamless and enjoyable.
•Uphold stringent hygiene and cleanliness standards in all cooking and food handling processes, following local health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe dining environment.
•Participate in regular training sessions led by the Head Chef to stay updated on new cooking techniques, ingredients, and equipment specific to Thai cuisine, fostering continuous improvement and skill development.
•Provide mentorship and guidance to junior kitchen staff, sharing knowledge of Thai cooking techniques and traditions, and overseeing their work to ensure compliance with the restaurant's standards.
•Experiment with new ingredients and cooking techniques to propose innovative dishes, working in consultation with the Head Chef to test and evaluate new ideas for the menu.
•Ensure the efficient use of ingredients to minimize waste, collaborating with the Head Chef to manage inventory effectively and sustainably.
Qualifications:
•Cert III in Commercial Cookery (Required)
•Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (Required)
•Diploma of Hospitality (Preferred)
Other Skills and Requirements:
•Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef or in relevant roles
•Proven experience in Thai and seafoods restaurant
•Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure
•Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food handling, and hygiene best practices
•Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
•Excellent time management and communication skills
•Creativity and passion for delivering memorable food experiences
