The Role
As an APS 5 Risk & Systems Support Officer, you will operate within the Assurance and Data sub function to support Defence technical and engineering activities through high?quality data management, documentation control, and technical analysis. You will also demonstrate an understanding of risk management principles and can apply them when assessing technical data, identifying issues, and recommending safe, compliant, and justifiable solutions.
Working under limited direction, you will manage moderately complex technical data, publications, drawings, and modelling tasks that contribute directly to Defence capability outcomes. Your role involves researching, developing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and technical regulatory frameworks.
You will interpret information, identify issues, implement corrective actions, and assist in the continuous improvement of technical data processes. Collaboration is central to the role: you will engage with internal and external stakeholders, support team objectives, and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
About our Team
ALSPO is the in-service support agency responsible for sustaining and enhancing the RAAF’s C-130J Hercules and C-27J Spartan aircraft. ALSPO, in partnership with industry, exists to support Air Force’s Air Mobility Group (AMG) achieve its mission by providing effective sustainment support solutions.
The C-27J Spartan Asset Management Unit (SAMU) within ALSPO is a highly capable and professional team operating in a dynamic work environment supporting the C-27J Spartan fleet. SAMU is an integrated workforce consisting of Australian Defence members, Australian Public Service, Contractors and Industry partners. The SAMU team is located at both RAAF Base Richmond and RAAF Base Amberley.
The role is proudly located in Greater Western Sydney at RAAF Base Richmond, an hour west of Sydney and at the foot of the beautiful Blue Mountains. The base has a full size gymnasium, tennis court, swimming pool, and cinema, which is accessible to all while working at RAAF Richmond.

Lastly, you are capable of mentoring others, reviewing work for quality, and supporting the development of best practice technical data processes.
