Executive General Manager Operations and Network

Overview
As the largest Tasmanian‑owned passenger transport company, Metro Tasmania operates across Hobart, Launceston and Burnie with a network of bus services. The organisation has more than 500 people and is focused on safe, reliable and customer‑focused public transport services that support everyday life and economic activity. Key strategic initiatives include the procurement of an integrated ticketing system, development of intelligent transport systems, and the trialling of zero‑emissions buses.
Role and Responsibilities
* Accountable for Metro Tasmania’s end‑to‑end operational performance across all depots, ensuring safe, reliable and cost‑effective bus service delivery.
* Manage the portfolio that includes bus operations, network planning, timetable and schedule management, and the operational integration of major projects into business‑as‑usual service delivery.
* Provide strategic leadership from Hobart, translating strategy into operational delivery and leading transformation initiatives into day‑to‑day operations.
* Offer visible leadership and support to depot and network leaders, building a capable, future‑ready workforce.
Location and Leadership
Based in Hobart, this is a senior operational leadership role requiring strategic oversight and disciplined execution to drive improvements in service reliability, productivity, workforce performance and commercial outcomes. The role reports directly to the CEO.
Qualifications and Experience
* Senior leadership experience in complex, multi‑site operations within regulated service environments.
* Proven track record of driving operational performance, productivity and cost efficiencies.
* Experience in organisational transformation, leading large and diverse workforces and building high performing teams.
* Extensive experience in safety leadership and operational risk management, with strong commercial acumen and stakeholder management skills.
