The Opportunity
A Regional Queensland Council is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Officer to provide effective HR generalist advice and support across the organisation.
Reporting to the Manager People, Culture and Safety, this role plays a key part in supporting leaders and employees across all aspects of the employee lifecycle — from recruitment and onboarding through to performance management, learning and development, and employee relations.
You will work closely with Directors, Managers and operational teams, providing practical HR advice while supporting initiatives that strengthen workforce capability and organisational performance.

About the Role
As a Senior HR Officer, you will provide high-quality HR advice and operational support across a broad range of people management activities.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing HR advice and support to managers and employees across the organisation
• Supporting recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities
• Providing guidance on awards, agreements, legislation and policy
• Supporting employee relations matters including grievances, performance management and disciplinary processes
• Assisting with workplace investigations as required
• Supervising HR administration staff
• Supporting learning and development initiatives and organisational development activities
• Maintaining employment documentation, contracts and position descriptions
• Developing and reviewing HR policies and procedures
• Supporting continuous improvement of HR systems and processes
About You
You are a capable HR professional with strong advisory skills and the ability to work effectively across a diverse workforce.
You will bring:
• Qualifications in Human Resource Management or relevant HR experience
• Sound knowledge of employment legislation, awards and industrial relations frameworks
• Experience providing HR advice across the employee lifecycle
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
