**OP Shop Retail Assistant ( 2 Days a week )**
St. Marks Recycled (St Marks Community Center Op Shop) raises funds for St. Mark's Community Centre. The main program centers on a partnership between Saint Mark's Parish and AnglicareVictoria. This program provides support to people in the community who are experiencing primary and secondary homelessness in the City of Yarra and the City of Melbourne. It includes providing emergency relief, case management, facilities such as showers and laundry as well as hot meals. Serving around 200 people a month the centre prides itself as being inclusive to people whose lived experience is varied. This includes, amongst other marginalities, people with dual diagnoses (such as AOD, mental illness), culturally and linguistically diverse communities, as well as LGBTIQ+ and first nations people
The shop is close to public transport and is located in the hive of Smith St.
St. Marks Recycled are recruiting an Op Shop Retail Assistant to work in our Collingwood Op Shop. This role is for 2 days a week (Monday and Thursday) increasing as required. Hours of work will be 11:00 am - 5:30 pm.
Reporting to the Op Shop manager, you will play a pivotal role in working with the current team of volunteers while overseeing the operations of the store.
You will be processing donations, pricing donations, serving customers, sales and restocking the shop floor.
The role requires climbing three flights of stairs, moving boxes, some heavy lifting and manual sorting.
**Qualifications & experience**
- Experience in a retail store including sorting, pricing, preparing goods for sale, and sales
- Be very organised and tidy person.
- Excellent customer service skills to build rapport with clients
- Ability to Identify, sort and price designer and vintage wear, homewares, collectibles and antiques.
- 12 - 18 months experience in a similar role in an Opportunity Shop would be well highly regarded.
- A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
- This position requires a current and valid Police Check, Working with Children's Check. If you do not have one, we will organise one for you.
- Comfortable working in a team environment, working with volunteers and/or working alone.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Understanding of OH&S legislation.
- A 'Can Do' proactive attitude and positive team spirit
- Experience with eBay is desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to Contribute to building a loyal customer base
**Tasks & responsibilities**
- Sorting / Processing donations.
- Pricing donations following the St. Marks Recycled pricing methodology.
- Keeping the shop and sorting area tidy.
- In-store and online sales as required.
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Manage customer enquiries
- Packaging unsuitable goods appropriately, ready for ethical disposal.
- Showcasing your visual merchandising skills and window display expertise
- Ensuring the store is clean, tidy and not cluttered for the safety of Customers and Volunteers.
- Other related tasks as directed.
