Ecological Specialist Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Ecological Specialist to join our team of engineers and scientists in delivering innovative environmental solutions across south east Queensland.
* This mid-level position involves conducting ecological assessments, development approvals, and environmental management for major infrastructure and urban planning initiatives.
The successful candidate will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related field;
* A solid understanding of SEQ ecosystems and regional ecology;
* Proven experience conducting fieldwork in south east Queensland with independent planning and delivery capability;
* Proficiency in QGIS and ecological mapping;
* Experience preparing ecological reports for DA/OPW applications, monitoring, or management purposes.
This role requires excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary project team. The ideal candidate will be able to ensure alignment with relevant State and Commonwealth environmental legislation and planning frameworks.
About the Role
You will be involved in diverse projects across ecological assessments, development approvals, and environmental management for major infrastructure and urban planning initiatives. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Conducting field assessments independently across South East Queensland, including flora and fauna surveys, habitat assessments, and environmental constraints mapping;
* Preparing and executing clear, concise technical reports to support development applications (DA), operational works (OPW), and ecological management plans;
* Utilising QGIS to analyse and present ecological data in spatial context;
* Collaborating with planners, engineers, and other environmental specialists to deliver integrated project outcomes;
* Supporting project delivery including time management, client liaison, and documentation.
