Empirical Solutions is seeking experienced Infrastructure & Deployable Systems Project Managers to support Defence capability delivery, integration, and experimentation activities.
Based onsite in Canberra (ACT), this role offers an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of complex infrastructure and deployable systems that support operational readiness, integration, and capability development across Defence environments.
This role is suited to an experienced technical project manager with a background delivering infrastructure, deployable systems, or technical capability within Defence, government, or complex engineering environments.
About The Role
As an Infrastructure & Deployable Systems Project Manager, you will play a key role in the planning, coordination, and delivery of infrastructure and deployable systems supporting Defence integration, trials, and operational capability.
You will oversee the delivery of technical infrastructure, deployable equipment, and integrated systems, ensuring they are delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with operational requirements.
Working closely with engineers, logistics specialists, integration teams, Defence stakeholders, and industry partners, you will coordinate complex delivery activities including design, integration, installation, deployment, and capability introduction.
This role requires strong technical awareness, structured project management capability, and the ability to operate effectively within complex and secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning and delivery of infrastructure and deployable systems projects; coordinate the integration and deployment of technical infrastructure, equipment, and support systems
* Manage multi-disciplinary project teams including engineering, logistics, and integration specialists
* Develop and maintain project schedules, delivery plans, risk registers, and reporting artefacts
* Coordinate installation, testing, and deployment activities across multiple locations
* Support trials, exercises, and capability validation activities
* Engage with stakeholders and delivery partners to ensure successful project outcomes
* Manage project scope, schedule, and resources within established governance frameworks
* Identify and manage technical, operational, and delivery risks
* Produce high-quality project documentation and reporting
* Support capability introduction and transition into service
* Ensure activities comply with safety, security, and WH&S requirements
Essential Experience & Skills
* Demonstrated experience delivering complex infrastructure, engineering, or ICT projects
* Experience managing deployable systems, field infrastructure, or integrated technical solutions
* Strong understanding of technical infrastructure environments, including networking, systems integration, or facilities
* Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary technical teams and stakeholders
* Strong project planning, scheduling, and risk management skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capability
* Ability to operate effectively in complex and secure environments
* Strong documentation and reporting skills
* Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
* Project Management certification (PRINCE2, PMP, Agile, or equivalent)
* Experience delivering projects in Defence, Government, or highly regulated environments
* Exposure to systems integration, logistics support, or engineering delivery
* Experience supporting trials, exercises, or operational capability activities
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, Logistics, or Information Technology
* Experience delivering projects within Agile or hybrid delivery environments

Active Security Clearance (mandatory) | Australian Citizenship required | Location: Onsite – Canberra, ACT | Some interstate travel may be required to support deployments, trials, and capability delivery activities
