Responsibilities
- Provide expert psychiatric care assessment and management of patients with an intellectual disability or on the autism spectrum.
- Predominantly a Consultation Liaison role to community and inpatient teams; may include a small cohort of direct patient care as part of an Intellectual and Developmental Disability team.
- Provide professional leadership in the area of Mental Health within a multidisciplinary environment.
What we’re looking for
- Demonstrated ability to competently work as an expert staff specialist in Psychiatry
- Clinical knowledge and skills to provide expert psychiatric assessment and management for patients with an IDD
- Interdisciplinary focus across chronic and complex health issues in IDD
- Sound clinical judgement and decision-making skills
- Commitment to continuing professional education and development, including CPD
- Willingness to teach interns, junior medical officers and medical students
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Accurate medical records and documentation
- Strong verbal and written communication with medical and health professionals
- Knowledge of quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance
- Experience practicing in a cross-cultural environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Medical Board of Australia with current annual practicing certificate; FRANZCP is preferred
- Specialist Registrants preferred; non-specialists or overseas trained specialists may be considered with evidence of progression toward fellowship
- All qualifications should be provided to AHPRA for inclusion on their website; copies should be provided to enable SoCP prior to commencement
- All applicants must obtain Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) by Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP committee prior to commencement

Our offer
