UnitingCare is a leading crisis response organization focused on the protection of vulnerable people and children, and financial resilience across Queensland. We are looking for an emotionally intelligent and passionate Youth Worker to join our Ipswich Out of Home Care team on a casual basis.
Responsibilities
* Work in accordance with the CARE model, providing a therapeutic, child‑centred approach.
* Support the provision of stable, trauma‑informed, nurturing non‑family‑based care arrangements.
* Support young people with moderate to extreme needs to: feel safe and nurtured; develop a strong sense of identity and belonging; build positive and trusting connections with family, friends and community; grow strong social and interpersonal skills; make healthy lifestyle choices; access health services; maintain a clean and safe home environment.
* Complete verbal and written reports and manage day‑to‑day tasks.
Qualifications
* Cert IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention or a minimum Cert IV in Human Services, Community Services, Youth Services or related field.
* Experience incorporating the six CARE principles when supporting children and young people, or evidence of reflective practice on how you would do so.
* Hope and Healing Training or willingness to undertake it.
* Strong understanding of the child protection system and a reliable therapeutic background (highly advantageous).
* Availability to work a 24‑hour roster system.
* Ability to build strong relationships with young people.
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children), First Aid & CPR, QLD Driver Licence.
