As a Full-Time Commis Chef at San Telmo, your day-to-day in our busy kitchen will involve:
- Assisting with food preparation and cooking across various sections of the kitchen
- Following recipes and plating guidelines to ensure consistency and quality
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety
- Setting up and packing down workstations efficiently
- Restocking supplies and assisting with deliveries
- Communicating clearly with the team to support smooth kitchen operations
- Taking direction from senior chefs and being open to feedback and training
- Contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment
We’re looking for someone with:
- Full-time, flexible availability — including evenings and weekends
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia (Citizens and Permanent Residents), or at least 2+ years left on a temporary visa
- Minimum 12 months’ experience in a fast-paced, premium commercial kitchen
- Strong time management and the ability to work under pressure
- A genuine passion for food and the hospitality industry
- Solid knife skills and confidence working in an open kitchen
- Experience with grilling techniques (charcoal or wood) — a bonus
- Experience with South American cuisine — also a bonus
- A desire to learn, grow, and build on your qualifications in Commercial Cookery
- A collaborative attitude and willingness to be part of a supportive team environment
