As a program of UMFC,
Hume Riverina Community Legal Service (HRCLS)
provides legal assistance in civil and family law to those most in need; people experiencing disadvantages to accessing justice who have multiple intersecting legal and non-legal problems extending from the cities of Albury/Wodonga to townships throughout North East Victoria and the Southern Riverina of NSW.

Step Into a Role That Makes a Difference
HRCLS is looking for multiple full-time Lawyers (Family Law and Civil Law) based in Wodonga, VIC. These roles will support vulnerable individuals through family law/family violence or civil law matters and provide opportunities for community education, law reform and advocacy in a values-led environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver legal advice, casework and representation in family law/family violence or civil law.
Participate in community legal education and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
Provide holistic support in collaboration with allied community services.
Represent clients in courts and tribunals as appropriate.
Maintain accurate records and comply with professional standards.
Participate in law reform and advocacy initiatives as relevant.
Is This You?
To qualify, you must hold (or be eligible to hold) an unrestricted practising certificate in Australia. We highly encourage applications from lawyers at all levels. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Court advocacy experience in family law, family violence, or civil matters.
Familiarity with the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and Magistrates' Court processes.
Interest or experience in cross-jurisdictional issues such as tenancy, credit, debt, or family violence.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and working with disadvantaged communities.

You bring enthusiasm, commitment and a positive attitude to your work, enjoy being part of a collaborative team, thrive in fast-paced environments, and bring compassion and clarity when supporting people during difficult times.
You will also need to hold a current C-Class Driver's Licence, and either hold or be eligible to obtain a Working with Children Clearance and a clear National Police Check. Weekly travel to regional communities is required (with fleet vehicles provided).
