About Infrastructure and Energy Finance, Australia
Our Sydney Infrastructure & Energy Finance team plays a crucial role in leading origination, development and execution of structure finance transactions across the infrastructure, energy and resources sectors as well as supporting the expansion of our IB approach in Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) by growing and deepening relationships within our strategic and targeted clients and ensuring seamless collaboration with global product groups, sector teams and our M&A boutique.

This is a unique fixed-term opportunity to work directly with highly experienced infrastructure & energy finance professionals, gain and develop a strong understanding of structured finance transactions and gain direct exposure to deal origination and client engagement. In addition, the candidate will have an opportunity to learn about other products offered by Natixis, including leveraged finance, global trade, sector teams, DCM and M&A advisory.
As a trainee, you will play a key role in supporting the origination and execution of transactions across a variety of sectors. You will support the team in identifying, evaluating and structuring new financing opportunities across various asset classes in the infrastructure and energy sectors, gaining invaluable insights into the end-to-end deal processes in the infrastructure finance industry.
Main Responsibilities
* Supporting the team in the origination, execution and syndication of new infrastructure and energy finance transactions
* Assisting in the initial evaluation of potential transactions, which may involve preliminary financial modelling, analysis of credit risks and review of due diligence reports
* Performing detailed financial and credit analysis, perform deal due diligence to prepare internal credit papers for senior management
* Conducting market and industry research for the business to identify potential opportunities
* Coordinating deal execution related tasks with internal stakeholders, with these tasks including but not limited to loan bookings, KYC, internal controls and reporting etc.
Essential skills
* A genuine interest in structured finance and IB environment
* Passion for the infrastructure and energy sectors, macro- and microeconomics trends
* Strong communication and organisation skills – both written and verbal – with ability to work with clients and internal stakeholders across different cultures and time-zones
* Ability to work closely with the regional team and support diverse deal flow in a collaborative team environment focusing on achieving clients needs and meeting deadlines
* Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Active user of generative AI tools.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or a closely related quantitative field
* Prior internship experience in a front-office role (i.e. CIB and structured finance) within the infrastructure/energy space would be preferred
* Have full working rights in Australia
