About the role
The role provides technical leadership for Application Hosting Unix services across large Solaris and RedHat environments. You lead a small team, act as 2IC, and deliver system administration, database administration, middleware support, server upgrades, monitoring, and disaster recovery. You provide expert advice to internal clients across hosting, software, hardware, and security.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead a small team of system administrators and perform 2IC duties
* Administer Solaris Virtual Platform, RedHat Linux, Docker and Podman
* Monitor servers and services for proactive support
* Administer Oracle, Ingres, and PostgreSQL database platforms
* Administer Tuxedo, Web Server, Apache Tomcat, and Oracle WebLogic
* Manage disaster recovery testing, capacity planning, server builds and upgrades
* Manage software licensing and hardware maintenance lifecycle
* Maintain technical documentation and reporting
* Deliver technical hosting advice to clients
* Ensure compliance with ITP change, configuration, incident, and problem management
* Produce technical estimates and solutions for clients
* Support vulnerability scanning, backup and recovery, and annual capacity planning
* Participate in rotating duty roster and on-call support
Highly desirable criteria
* Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience

* Experience working in government environments
* Understanding of ITP technical architecture and methodologies
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical audiences

* Oracle Certified Professional
* Solaris 10 and 11.4 administration
* RedHat Linux administration (7, 8, 9)
* Solaris SVP and RedHat virtualisation including VMware, Logical Domains and Containers
* Oracle SPARC server fleet administration
* Scripting using Unix Shell, PERL, PHP, Bash
* Oracle Database platform (v11, v12, v18, v19c and v21c)
* Cloud Linux IaaS and PaaS
* Puppet Enterprise for Solaris and RedHat Satellite for Linux administration
* Ingres, PostgreSQL and Oracle Database system administration
* Apache Tomcat (10 and 11)
* Oracle WebLogic
* Oracle Tuxedo (V
* Nagios
* AWS and Azure architecture and system operations
* VMware, NAS, SAN, Backup, Network and Security infrastructure
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a small team
* Strong client communication, estimation, and documentation skills
