About The SIL Program
The SIL program is designed for young people aged 16 and over to attain their own residence and develop skills to maintain independent living, including budgeting, maintaining amenities, and accessing education and employment opportunities. The program supports transitions from the Permanency Support Program (PSP) to SIL and then to long-term accommodation, linking to programs such as Rent Choice Youth, House Accord, the Department of Housing or the private rental market.
About The Role
As a Youth Support Worker in TSIL, duties vary and may include attending appointments, helping the young person maintain their home, or supporting community access. TSIL placements do not have a fixed office; shift notes are documented or emailed after shifts. Communication with the caseworker is essential so shift objectives are understood prior to the shift. The SIL Youth Worker is required to be available Monday to Friday, with some weekend work based on client needs.
