At Costa Pty Ltd's Berry Category, we produce a leading volume of berries across Australia.
This permanent role is based in Tasmania and involves working across our Blueberry (Sulphur Creek) & Blackberry Farm (Dunorlan).
As Horticulturist, you will play a critical role in supporting commercial production and ensuring effective monitoring and management of all crop-related decisions are made in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Involvement in areas of crop productions such as irrigation management, nutrition, crop timing and planning, canopy management, research and development projects, and pest and disease control
- Coordination of horticultural activities
- Management and education of people within the horticultural team and operations staff executing horticultural instruction
- Monitoring, reporting, and making decisions on daily nutrition requirements, including EC and pH management
- Managing data analysis, collecting samples, and conducting tests
- Reporting and communicating all monitoring and trial results, findings, and recommendations
Requirements:
- Qualifications in horticulture or agriculture
- Relevant experience (within berry crops is beneficial but not essential)
- Ability and willingness to get out into the field and be involved in day-to-day operations
- Exposure to budget and KPIs
- High-level organization and planning skills
- Ability to make decisions independently
- Current driver's license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
