The Role
As Senior Environmental Officer, you will provide high-level guidance and environmental expertise to the Director and project team members to enable the project team to meet departmental and government environmental management commitments. The role is involved in the management of various environmental issues associated with the Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program (QTRIP) including but not limited to noise air quality flora fauna soil and water management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fulfill the role of lead environmental representative on projects providing advice about environmental assessment and management requirements in relation to design construction and/or maintenance aspects of projects.
2. Management of external consultants and specialists as required and lead the project's environmental assessment.
3. Promote foster and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and agencies concerned with the management of environment issues associated with the project.
4. Lead audits of environmental compliance associated with QTRIP projects.
5. Provide advice about environmental impacts associated with projects and any relevant legislative and departmental requirements.
6. Participate and represent the project team on various external working committees if/when required.
7. Support the implementation and monitoring of the Department's Environmental Management System and Practices.
