A Mental Health Consultant role has become available due to an internal promotion. You will work collaboratively with case managers to drive person-centric recovery of psychological claims, support sustainable return-to-work outcomes, and assist in identifying secondary psychological claims.
This opportunity is based in Darwin office, where you can bring your expertise and passion to a truly rewarding role. Additionally, you will connect with and be supported by GB's Mental Health Hub (community of practice).
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop innovative strategies to manage complex psychological claims, addressing barriers such as communication, diagnoses, plateaued progress, potential for self-harm, and treatment;
2. Contribute to return-to-work plans and identify suitable workplace duties;
3. Counsel and mentor claims teams on managing psychological injuries;
4. Attend case conferences with injured workers and medical practitioners, liaising with GPs and specialists;
5. Analyse psychological injury trends, identify risks, and implement improvement strategies;
6. Train claims teams to improve competencies around managing psychological claims;
7. Review claims to identify psychosocial barriers.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Tertiary qualifications in mental health-related disciplines, including psychology, rehabilitation counselling, social work, counselling, mental health nursing, etc. Experience within the insurance sector is highly regarded;
2. Knowledge of general business and administrative practices, including cost-effective activities;
3. Highly developed communication skills, engaging stakeholders at all levels.
