Vegetable Harvest Worker – Horticulture Operations Hobart Region, TAS | 9-Month Assignment) Location: Hobart Region, TAS
Employment Type: Casual (9 months) Positions Available: 15 Start Date: Late April 2026
About the Role We are seeking 15 reliable and hardworking Vegetable Harvest Workers to support seasonal horticulture operations at a vegetable production site located in the Hobart region, Tasmania. These roles are Casual Position for a 9-month assignment, supporting day-to-day vegetable harvesting and farm operations.
The work is hands-on, physically demanding, and performed in an outdoor agricultural environment. Key Duties Harvesting vegetables by hand
Picking, grading, and packing produce Assisting with crop maintenance and field preparation Manual handling and lifting of items weighing up to 15–20kg
General farm duties and housekeeping Following workplace health and safety procedures Working efficiently to meet daily production and quality requirements
Working as part of a team under supervisor direction About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Previous experience in horticulture, vegetable harvesting, or farm work (preferred but not essential) Good physical fitness and ability to perform repetitive manual tasks
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Reliability and punctuality, including early morning starts Strong teamwork skills and ability to follow instructions
A positive attitude and strong work ethic Commitment to workplace safety standards Driver's licence and reliable transport preferred (limited public transport in some areas)

Work, Pay & Conditions (Mandatory Information) Hours of Work
Workers will be rostered Monday to Friday, with some weekend work required depending on operational needs Minimum Weekly Hours: 30 hours per week Average Weekly Hours: 30–38 hours per week (subject to seasonal demand)
Shift Length: Approximately 6–8 hours per day, including an unpaid meal break Start Times: Early morning starts (to be advised) Additional Hours: May be required during peak harvest periods and will be paid in accordance with the applicable Award
Example Weekly Structure (Minimum 30 hours): Monday: 6 hrs Tuesday: 6 hrs
Wednesday: 6 hrs Thursday: 6 hrs Friday: 6 hrs
Total: 30 hours Pay & Conditions Workers will be paid in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028) based on the duties performed.
Entitlements include: Ordinary hourly rate Overtime and penalty rates where applicable
Superannuation contributions Weekly payslips and accurate time records No unlawful or unclear deductions
Work Environment The work is physical and performed in an outdoor vegetable farming environment, which may involve: Working in varying weather conditions
Repetitive bending, lifting, and standing Manual handling and use of basic harvesting equipment All workers will receive site induction, safety training, and any required PPE prior to commencing duties.
