The Indigenous Carbon Industry Network is seeking a talented Policy Manager to facilitate policy discussions, draft policy positions for consideration by all members, provide advice to ICIN on the latest policy developments and work with the Communications Manager to distribute key policy updates to members.
You will be an excellent communicator with experience in policy writing, facilitation, a sharp eye for detail and an ability to put forward timely policy advice in a clear and concise way.
Note that this is a temporary (Maternity Leave) position for 14 months.

Key Responsibilities
The Policy Manager will play a key role in supporting the strategic development of policies and carbon methods through the network that drive the growth and sustainability of the Indigenous carbon industry across Australia; and in informing, consulting and coordinating with ICIN members to develop and advocate for ICIN policy positions.
Duties
The key duties of the Policy Coordinator include:
1. Provide advice to ICIN staff, directors and members on key policy developments impacting on the Indigenous carbon industry.
2. Provide Secretariat support to the ICIN Policy Working Group, including notetaking and organisation.
3. Facilitate meetings with ICIN members on key policy issues as they arise and provide a brief at the end of the meeting.
4. Manage the Policy Officer.
5. Collate agreed key points and write draft policy position statements informed by ICIN members and the Technical Advisor.
6. Draft policy submissions on key issues as they arise, for consideration by all ICIN members.
7. Work with the Communications Manager to distribute key policy updates to members.
8. Support advocacy by ICIN members on key policy issues impacting the Indigenous carbon industry.
9. Report back key achievements and key challenges to partners and members as required.
10. Build relationships with ICIN member organisations and government policy representatives.
11. Build capacity of Indigenous Carbon Industry spokespersons through providing policy briefings and advocacy training as well as supporting career pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in carbon policy development.
12. Create, manage, resource and deliver policy development projects to the dedicated budget and contracted timeframe with support from the CEO.
13. Other tasks as directed by the CEO from time to time.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Experience in policy development and co-design.
2. Experience in policy analysis, including provision of briefs on key policy issues.
3. Experience in collating feedback on key policy issues from a wide range of stakeholders.
4. Understanding of climate and environmental policies impacting upon Indigenous Australians.
5. Experience in supporting advocacy on key policy issues.
6. Excellent communication skills.
7. A working understanding of the principles of Free, Prior and Informed Consent.
8. Commitment to the values and purpose of the Indigenous Carbon Industry Network.
9. Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and good cultural competency.
10. An ability to work in a dynamic setting.
Desirable
1. A detailed understanding of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Act and the ACCU Scheme.
2. A broad understanding of the Native Title Act and Indigenous rights and interests in carbon.
3. Interest in Indigenous land and sea management.
You will join a small, dedicated team working across Australia to support services to our members, including over 35 Indigenous organisations that own or directly produce carbon credits, as well as to provide information and updates to Indigenous organisations across Australia with an interest in the carbon industry.
You will be supported to work either from home or our office in Darwin, with provision of a laptop computer and phone. Some interstate travel will be required.
Remuneration: Your salary shall be based a full-time equivalent annual salary of $110,000 - $120,0000 depending on experience.
Superannuation is 12% or in accordance with the National Employment Standards. Annual leave is 6 weeks per annum. An attractive salary package is available.
This position reports to the CEO, ICIN.
