IEMA – Integrating Sustainability, Business & Community – is seeking expressions of interest from high-calibre Principal Environmental Consultants ready to take on a strategic leadership role in Queensland.
We are looking for a dynamic leader to grow our Brisbane-based team, expand our client base, and deliver high-impact environmental projects. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in business development, technical leadership, and team mentorship, with expertise across Mining, Quarries, Ports, Infrastructure, and Agriculture sectors.

Founded in 2018, IEMA provides comprehensive, end-to-end environmental management and advisory consulting services across the entire lifecycle of a facility. We work closely with clients to ensure their projects balance sustainability, business objectives, and community outcomes.
IEMA also specialises in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) advisory, supporting businesses in developing robust sustainability strategies and compliance-driven ESG reporting. Your Role as a Principal Consultant & Business Leader
You will:
* Lead and grow our Queensland team, fostering a strong technical and client-focused culture.
* Drive business development and client engagement, expanding our footprint in the Mining, Quarries, Ports, Infrastructure, and Agriculture sectors.
* Identify, pursue, and secure new projects, leveraging industry connections and market insights.
* Provide strategic environmental advice, navigating complex regulatory frameworks.
* Oversee high-quality environmental assessments, approvals, and compliance projects.
* Lead projects related to mine closure and rehabilitation, including Progressive Rehabilitation and Closure Plans (PRCPs).
* Build and mentor a high-performing team, supporting junior and mid-level consultants.
* Represent IEMA as a trusted advisor, fostering relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
You have:
* Proven leadership experience in a consulting environment, with a track record in team management and business growth.
* Strong business development skills, including client relationship management and project acquisition.
* Comprehensive understanding of the Queensland environmental regulatory framework and compliance management, particularly related to mining clients.
* Experience in mine closure planning, rehabilitation strategies, and PRCP development.
* Ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects, balancing technical, regulatory, and business considerations.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Expertise in disciplines including environmental impact assessment, ESG, or spatial sciences will be an advantage.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
* Certification as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) is highly regarded.
