About Yellowstone

Yellowstone has built a strong reputation over almost 25 years delivering high-quality landscaping and construction projects for local councils across Melbourne. Yellowstone is widely regarded as the benchmark for landscape construction in the municipal sector.

We are known for our attention to detail, professionalism, and consistency from tender through to project delivery. Our clients rely on us not just to deliver projects, but to deliver them well.

We are a commercial business with clear expectations around performance, quality, and outcomes — and we invest in the people who help us achieve that.

The Role

This is a senior, office-based role focused on improving how Yellowstone approaches tenders at a strategic level, but also responsible for delivering tenders at an operational level.

The role can be structured full-time or as a high-impact part-time position (minimum 30 hours), depending on the right candidate.

You will take ownership of the end-to-end tender process, while also lifting the quality, structure, and competitiveness of our submissions.

You will not price projects yourself. Your role is to lead the process — coordinating the internal technical team responsible for pricing, ensuring inputs are accurate, aligned, and delivered on time.

This is not about pushing paperwork through a system. It's about thinking, challenging, and improving.

Core Responsibilities

* Own the preparation of high-quality tender submissions
* Develop clear, structured, and commercially compelling responses
* Move beyond "compliance writing" to strategic positioning
* Identify ways to differentiate Yellowstone in competitive tenders
* Introduce new approaches that materially improve submission quality
* Develop structured, data-driven content (not generic statements) For example: build measurable environmental submissions (CO2, water, fuel, energy usage) with clear tables and project-specific commitments
* Continuously refine templates, frameworks, and response strategies and build out the Yellowstone submission library

Research & Positioning

* Conduct research on councils, stakeholders, and decision-makers
* Understand what each client actually values — and tailor responses accordingly
* Where appropriate, engage directly with stakeholders to strengthen positioning prior to submission

Bid Management & Coordination

* Manage the full tender lifecycle from identification to submission
* Coordinate inputs across internal teams (operations, estimating, leadership)
* Ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality

Leadership & Team Development

* Manage and develop 1–2 team members
* Set standards for output quality, structure, and consistency
* Contribute as part of the senior management team

About You

You are not just a strong writer — you think commercially and critically.

You'll likely come from a more structured or corporate environment and be looking for a role where you can apply your skills with more autonomy and impact.

You're looking for a role that offers flexibility without stepping back from meaningful, high-level work.

You're the type of person who:

* Can take a vague input and turn it into something clear and compelling
* Is comfortable challenging internal stakeholders to get better information
* Thinks in terms of outcomes, not just tasks
* Wants to build something, not just maintain it

Skills & Experience

* Proven experience in tender writing, bid management, or similar role
* Experience working on complex, multi-stakeholder submissions
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to position work strategically
* Excellent written communication skills — clear, structured, and persuasive
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
* Experience improving or building tender processes, templates, or systems
* Leadership experience or readiness to step into a management role
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular) and the use of AI to enhance output
* Experience working with government or council tenders
* Exposure to construction, infrastructure, or related industries

What You'll Get

* A senior role with real ownership and influence
* Direct exposure to leadership and decision-making
* The opportunity to build and shape a critical function
* A stable, well-regarded business with consistent project flow
* A team that values high standards and backs its people
* Flexibility to structure your week around personal and family commitments

We are open to structuring this role as a high-quality part-time position (4–5 days per week, minimum 30 hours), designed to suit experienced professionals seeking flexibility without compromising impact. We actively support family-friendly working arrangements, including alignment with school hours and school holidays where possible. This role is about outcomes, not rigid hours — giving you the autonomy to perform at a high level while balancing external commitments.

Apply

If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely improve how a business wins work — not just participate in the process — this is worth a conversation.

Submit your resume and a personalised cover letter outlining why you believe this is the right role for you and how you match what Yellowstone are looking for.
