Overview
Ready to be the boots-on-the-ground problem solver helping keep the city safe, tidy and running smoothly?
We're on the lookout for a proactive Rapid Response Taskforce Officer to jump into action across the city, tackling local law and public safety concerns in areas with higher levels of anti-social community behaviour.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where no two days look the same – one moment you could be investigating an abandoned vehicle, the next coordinating the removal of rogue signage or retrieving stray shopping trolleys to help restore the amenity of public spaces.
Working as part of a dedicated local laws team, you'll conduct proactive and reactive patrols across the city, focusing on known hotspot locations while also responding to emerging issues reported by the community.
Responsibilities
* Investigate non-compliance matters, carry out reinspections, enforce relevant legislation and operational procedures, and exercise sound judgement within your delegated authority.
* Identify property ownership through appropriate checks, undertake impounding duties when required, coordinate the release of impounded goods and support the scheduling and delivery of impounded vehicle auctions.
* Maintain accurate and legally sound records, prepare clear correspondence and reports using established templates, and capture evidence and inspection notes within Council's corporate systems.
* Work with modern mobility tools and mobile applications in the field to improve response times, reporting accuracy and customer service outcomes.
* Support education and awareness initiatives across the community; collaborate with internal teams to promote responsible behaviour, provide advice to customers regarding impounded property, and help ensure residents and businesses understand relevant local laws and procedures.
* Stay up to date with current state legislation, local laws, policies and procedures.
* Operate Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm, with every second Friday off through an RDO arrangement. Flexibility may occasionally be required to meet operational needs across five days out of seven, including potential weekend work where penalty rates apply, as well as participation in an after-hours on-call roster.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Applicants must be physically capable of meeting the operational demands of the role and will be required to undertake a pre-employment functional assessment.
* A current C Class driver's licence is essential, along with the ability to confidently operate specialised vehicles and equipment.
* Officers will be provided with and required to wear a Council uniform while on duty.
