An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Laboratory Technician – Product Testing to join Sealy's Research & Development team at our Brisbane head office.
The Role
Reporting to the R&D Centre Manager, this is a senior, hands-on laboratory role within Sealy's product testing team.
As a Senior Laboratory Technician, you will take a leading role in coordinating day-to-day testing activities while remaining actively involved in laboratory testing. You will support and guide other technicians, assist with scheduling and prioritisation of work, and ensure testing is delivered to the highest technical, quality and safety standards.
This role is ideal for a high performing laboratory technician ready to step into leadership without stepping away from the bench.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and coordinate product testing activities
* Lead daily testing operations, including task allocation and prioritisation
* Conduct and review testing, analysis and reporting with clear recommendations
* Support training, onboarding and capability development of technicians
* Ensure compliance with NATA-level practices, accreditation requirements and internal procedures
* Assist with laboratory audits, equipment checks and calibrations
* Identify and implement new testing methods, equipment and technologies
* Maintain safe operating procedures and compliance with WHS and 6S principles
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders on R&D, product development and commercialisation projects
Aspects of this role require regular manual handling, including lifting and moving equipment and test items as required.
About You
* Qualification in laboratory techniques or a related discipline
* Experience in laboratory testing within a product development or manufacturing environment
* Exposure to NATA-accredited laboratory practices (highly regarded)
* Strong hands-on technical skills (mechanical, product or materials testing)
* Experience guiding, supporting or leading others in a technical setting
* Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise work
* High attention to detail and structured approach to documentation
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Understanding of ISO 17025 (desirable)
* Ability to safely undertake manual handling tasks
