We are seeking a First Nations and Community Lead who is passionate about respectful engagement, partnership and social impact. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape Lochard's approach to reconciliation and community relationships, ensuring our operations create shared value and are grounded in trust, transparency and respect.

Job Requirements

About you
You bring a deep commitment to respectful engagement with First Nations peoples and local communities, combined with the ability to operate confidently within a commercial and operational environment. You are comfortable building relationships, navigating complexity and translating community insights into practical action.

Lochard Energy is committed to reconciliation and increasing First Nations representation. In line with this commitment, applications from First Nations peoples will be prioritised for this role.

Ideally, we're looking for someone with:
Demonstrated experience working with First Nations peoples from a corporate, non-profit or government background
Strong relationship‑building skills
Experience leading reconciliation or community engagement initiatives
Understanding of cultural heritage management and social performance principles
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience (desirable).
Personal attributes
Culturally respectful, pragmatic, collaborative, high integrity and accountable.

Job Responsibilities

About the role
Reporting to the General Manager - People & Sustainability, the First Nations and Community Lead is responsible for strengthening Lochard's relationships with First Nations peoples and local communities. You will lead meaningful engagement, partnerships and programs that support socially responsible operations and create shared value.

Lead Lochard's Reconciliation Effort
Provide strategic advice to Lochard's Executive Team and Board on Lochard's First Nations engagement and reconciliation journey
Oversee the delivery of Lochard's Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan
Chair Lochard's Reconciliation Working Group
Forge deep and impactful relationships with Registered Aboriginal Parties, Traditional Owner groups and Native Title holders in South-west Victoria
Strategic Advisor to Major Project Developments
Provide strategic advice and support to Lochard's GM Development and GM Major Projects on First Nations and Community Development opportunities
Contribute to the development of Project Development documentation to support Project Approvals
Community Strengthening
Work closely with Lochard's communication team to implement Lochard's annual community support grant program
Support community engagement initiatives throughout the year including working with local schools, community groups and other community organisations in Southwest Victoria
Ensure Lochard's community development work is closely aligned with Lochard's Sustainability strategy and our overall organisational strategy.
