The City is looking for an experienced Lead City Designer who is responsible for setting the vision and planning of the City's public realm, including the prioritisation of capital works upgrades. This position takes the lead role in managing a full spectrum of high-quality public realm projects from initiation through to concept design, cost estimation and community and stakeholder consultation.
You will lead the research, planning and development of feasibility studies to guide the City's policies and strategies which will shape the future of the city's public realm, with the aim of providing an accessible and vibrant place for visitors, workers and residents.
As the Lead City Designer, you will support the City by:
- Providing supervision, guidance, and specialist advice to the urban design team.
- Setting performance objectives for monitoring and reviewing staff performance.
- Contributing to developing the Transport and Urban Design Unit as the benchmark for excellence in service within Local Government and private industry.
- Coordinating and managing projects of a high level of complexity, providing leadership and development to multi-disciplinary teams.
You will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes, practices and statutory requirements related to the delivery of urban design projects.
