Pastoral Care Practitioner Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pastoral Care Practitioner to provide emotional support and spiritual care services to residents and their families.

This role is a critical component of an integrated team working within an established framework to support residents to live their best lives.


About the Role

* The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and responding to the diverse pastoral and spiritual care needs of residents, their families and staff with compassion, sensitivity, knowledge and skill.
* They will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the unique needs of each resident are met.


Key Responsibilities:

* Provide emotional support and spiritual care services to residents and their families.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to identify and respond to the diverse pastoral and spiritual care needs of residents and their families.
* Nurture and support the spiritual and pastoral strengths of residents and their families.
* Foster meaningful connections to enrich the lives of residents and their families.


Requirements:

* Recent experience working in a similar role in aged care, health care or community settings.
* Relevant tertiary qualification/s including clinical pastoral education (CPE), counselling or equivalent.
* Demonstrated understanding of and experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Highly effective interpersonal skills in working with people experiencing vulnerability.
* Understanding of the pastoral and spiritual needs of people living in a residential aged care setting.
* Demonstrated ability to undertake spiritual assessments and contribute to care plans.
* Well-developed knowledge and understanding of various spiritual expressions including faith traditions and denominations.
* Demonstrated capacity for reflective practice.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare, lead and/or facilitate the provision of meaningful rituals and celebrations.
