Automation & Controls Specialist
This critical role is part of a fully reusable transportation system designed to launch crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
The specialist will install and commission new automation assets, build panels, and update drawings. They will also assist maintenance with troubleshooting and repairs of existing assets, focusing on improving long-term reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
* Maintaining control voltage level electrical systems
* Developing and upgrading data acquisition and control systems
* Providing technical support for controls technicians and other non-controls engineering groups
* Leading shifts of technicians and/or contractors efficiently
* Developing new hardware and processes to improve capabilities, cost, and setup time of ground support electrical systems
* Working with the software team to evolve software for testing ground systems
* Analyzing data to assess electrical system function
* Assisting with CAD modeling of electrical conveyances
* Assisting with detailed electrical schematic designs
Basic qualifications include:
* High school diploma or equivalency certificate
* 2+ years of experience in a controls technician or specialist role
Preferred skills and experience include:
* Occupational trade school qualification in an instrumentation or electrical-based field
* Knowledge of NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 79, and UL508A codes
* Excellent communication skills
* Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight
