As Censeo Field and Lab continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Crop Agronomist to support our expanding portfolio of research trials and on‑farm technical services. We are looking for someone with strong broadacre cropping knowledge, and the initiative to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and turn ideas into action. This role would suit applicants who are looking for the challenge of working in a mid-sized, independent company with a wide scope of roles and opportunities. We would ideally also like specific experience with mungbeans, as we have a significant ongoing project on this crop.
About the Role
· This position is a leadership role and would be leading research trial programs across multiple crops, with a strong focus on broadacre cropping systems (although we also operate in horticulture and other industries).
· Working closely with clients, you will design and execute trials that will deliver the specific data needed, across a range of agronomic, weed/pest management and crop health subjects. This includes utilising a growing range of technologies and tools from satellite imagery to drones.
· Work directly with growers, agronomists, and research partners to implement solutions and drive improvements. This includes presenting at field days, workshops and conferences to communicate results and drive on-farm adoption.
· We want you to be able to identify opportunities and knowledge gaps that have the potential to drive on-farm productivity, profitability and sustainability and be able to pitch them to industry.
You will
· Be responsible for a growing team of permanent and casual staff that move between our many trial programs.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot crop issues including nutrition, pests, weeds, diseases, soil constraints, and agronomic management challenges.
· Plan, coordinate, and execute field trial activities including planting, treatments, measurements, sampling, and harvesting.
· Identify opportunities for new trials, product evaluations, or system improvements—and help make them happen.
· Collect, manage, and maintain high‑quality field data and contribute to reporting and trial documentation including statistical analysis.
· Operate and maintain field equipment, including planters, sprayers, harvesters, and data‑logging devices.
· Travel to field sites across Queensland and NSW, with occasional overnight stays.
