About the Role As the National Head of Department – Design (Visual Communication), you will provide academic leadership and drive the strategic development of our Design program across all three campuses. This role is responsible for the curriculum's quality, consistency, and industry relevance, as well as supporting student engagement, growth, and retention. You will lead a national team of talented lecturers delivering the Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) and its nested awards. What’s involved? Leading and mentoring academic staff across campuses, promoting collaboration and innovation Overseeing curriculum development and embedding emerging design fields such as UX/UI, AR/VR, AI in Design, Illustration, and Sustainable Design Driving quality and consistency in teaching, learning, and assessment Building strong industry partnerships to enhance student learning and internship opportunities Collaborating with internal teams on initiatives to showcase student work and build program engagement Monitoring student satisfaction, engagement, and outcomes with a continuous improvement mindset Recruiting and supporting a passionate and highly skilled teaching team Promoting scholarly activity and professional development across the department Are you who we are looking for? You’ll know this role is for you if you: Hold a Master’s degree (or higher) in Design, Visual Communication, or a closely related discipline Have 5 years’ experience in a similar academic leadership role, ideally across multiple campuses Demonstrate deep industry knowledge and maintain currency in design trends and technologies Have a track record of high-quality course leadership and curriculum development Are passionate about student-centered education and mentoring emerging creatives Have experience building industry networks and creating real-world opportunities for students Communicate clearly and confidently with students, staff, and industry stakeholders Have or are willing to obtain a Working with Children Check Interested?
