The Team
The Older Persons Mental Health Service (OPMHS) includes the community team and the Roy Fagan Centre (RFC).
The community team is a subspecialist multidisciplinary team led by old age psychiatrists, that provides assessment, management, treatment and/or support for a range of circumstances.
The RFC provides inpatient care for elderly patients with mental illness, often with age-related frailty or comorbid dementia.
The Waratah Unit is an eight-bed Specialist Dementia Care Unit, run in collaboration with Glenview Residential Aged Care Home and Dementia Support Australia.
Responsibilities
Provide clinical care as an Old Age Psychiatrist within the RFC (including on-call) and in the community team.
Deliver assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of older clients with mental health problems, dementia, and multimorbidity.
Participate in MDT decision-making and provide clinical leadership.
Support the Waratah Unit as required.
Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to implement evidence-based practices and adhere to contemporary clinical standards and policies relevant to OPMHS.
Recent experience in an older person's mental health setting.
Proficiency in risk assessment and risk management for older clients with mental health problems, dementia, and/or physical health issues.
Capacity to exercise independent clinical judgement while following policies and protocols and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Patient focus demonstrated through respect, politeness, empathy, and confident decision-making to enhance safety and outcomes.
Hold specialist registration in psychiatry or be a registered medical practitioner on the specialist pathway (International Medical Graduate).
Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration where applicable.
Current driver's licence (desirable).

Salary and Allowances
Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 – $310,389, subject to level 1, 2 or 3 criteria.
Motor vehicle allowance $28,786 per annum, pro-rata.
Continuing Professional Development allowance $16,480 per annum, pro-rata.
Relocation and commencement support up to $15,000 for overseas appointees and up to $10,000 for interstate appointees.
Allowance in lieu of private practice scheme 35 % of base salary (if applicable).
