About The Role
The Team Leader Financial Accounting will be responsible for leading the financial accounting function within the Finance, Property & Performance business unit. This role requires ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards, while fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the team. You will oversee the delivery of essential financial services, including general ledger management, asset accounting, and taxation compliance, while providing expert advice on complex accounting issues.
In this role, you will manage Council's investment and loan portfolios, develop financial controls, and establish effective relationships with key stakeholders such as the NSW Audit Office and regulatory bodies, all aimed at meeting the strategic objectives of Sutherland Shire Council.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
* Full membership of either CPA Australia or CAANZ.
* Proven experience in leading a financial accounting team within a medium-to-large organisation.
* Demonstrated expertise in preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
* Experience managing external audit processes and implementing financial controls.
* Advanced technical accounting skills with strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and tax legislation.
* Superior organisational and communication skills to manage competing priorities effectively.

* Package:$117,242 - $131,312 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. An attraction allowance may be considered for an exceptional candidate.
* Hours of work:Permanent Full Time.You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council's flex system.
