This is a Professor (Education Focused) – Central Clinical School role with University of Sydney based in Camperdown, NSW, AU University of Sydney Role Seniority - senior More about the Professor (Education Focused) – Central Clinical School role at University of Sydney About the opportunity We are seeking an outstanding educator to join the University of Sydney as a Professor (Education Focused) in Ophthalmology. Based at the Westmead Clinical School, this is a key leadership role focused on delivering and coordinating ophthalmology education within our world-class medical program. In this role, you will: Lead the delivery of the ophthalmology curriculum to medical students at the Westmead Clinical School. Serve as the primary coordinator of the Optics component within the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) program. Design, deliver, and assess course content, including setting and grading assignments and examination questions. Ensure high-quality student experience and engagement. Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation in ophthalmology teaching. Oversee administrative and coordination responsibilities related to course management. About you (skills, capabilities and experience) You will be a senior academic or clinician-educator with: A PhD in ophthalmology, vision science, medical education, or a related field (required). A strong background in ophthalmology education, ideally with experience in teaching optics. A proven track record of excellence in curriculum design and delivery in clinical education. Demonstrated leadership in academic coordination and assessment in a university or clinical setting. A commitment to educational innovation and student success. Fellowship of a relevant college (e.g., RANZCO) and/or a higher degree in education or ophthalmic science would be desirable. Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Work Rights: you must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment. Term and remuneration The term of appointment is fixed term 0.2FTE for 2 years. The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
