This well known manufacturer is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to drive end‐to‐end improvements across our manufacturing ecosystem.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role has a broad remit to improve the efficiency and accuracy of pre‐production (office) activities in addition to improving factory quality and efficiency.
You will work closely with the Information Systems Manager, Production Manager and Head of Design, and lead a small team of engineers to eliminate disconnects between design intent, planning assumptions and shop‐floor reality. You understand the opportunity that AI brings, and are already leveraging it in your current role.
You will be a natural leader, innovative with a flair for engineering and a passion for driving improvement. Your knowledge of Lean and CI will see you leading these programs across our Operations. This is a senior, hands‐on role suited to someone equally comfortable analysing data and being on the factory floor driving real outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
* Design, optimise and govern the end‐to‐end manufacturing system from engineering release through to physical execution
* Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks across people, process, systems and layout
* Ensure workflows are repeatable, predictable and scalable as volumes and product mix change
* Design systems that prevent problems rather than relying on downstream fixes
* Front‐End Engineering & ERP Integrity: Audit and optimise the lifecycle of Shop Drawings, ensuring clean handover from Design Engineering to Production
* Cleanse, restructure and govern Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP to ensure accuracy in ordering, kitting and assembly
* Redesign Work Orders and Picking Slips to minimise search time, clerical errors and rework
* Ensure front‐end data structures reflect real factory constraints and execution logic
* Upstream Procurement & Production Planning: Work with Procurement to align raw material supply with production takt time, reducing excess inventory and shortages
* Translate demand signals into stable, executable production plans
* Factory Floor Optimisation: Design and optimise factory layouts, work cells and material flows
* Implement kitting and internal logistics strategies to reduce motion, errors and cycle time
* Improve labour productivity through better work design, not headcount increases
* Quality, Cost & Asset Reliability: Reduce waste across materials, energy, labour and time
* Oversee equipment health strategies, including predictive and preventative maintenance
* Improve overall equipment effectiveness through system design
* Lead, mentor and develop a small team of Industrial Engineers
* Set clear KPIs, priorities and performance expectations
* Manage the engineering budget and prioritise initiatives based on ROI and factory impact
* Design and own the factory's Continuous Improvement roadmap
* Apply and embed Lean, Kaizen, 5S and Six Sigma methodologies
* Train and influence teams at all levels to drive sustained improvement
* Ensure CI delivers measurable business outcomes
Skills, Experience & Tools
* Degree qualified in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar
* 8+ years industrial or production engineering within a manufacturing environment
* Strong practical experience with Lean Manufacturing / CI methodologies
* High ERP literacy and appreciation of data integrity
* Experience using CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor) for layouts, tooling or workflow design
* Commercial mindset with the ability to prioritise work based on impact
* Demonstrated use of AI or advanced analytics to improve engineering, planning, quality or productivity will be highly regarded
