Job Overview
Our organization is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Tax and contribute to the preparation of direct tax compliance obligations and advisory needs for Australian businesses.
* This role involves working on average 3 days from a head office in Sydney and 2 days from home, on a fixed-term contract.
Responsibilities
* The preparation of accurate income tax returns, quarterly and financial year tax effect accounting calculation and reporting for allocated business units is a key aspect of this role.
* Providing practical and timely tax advice on a range of issues, including income tax, indirect tax, and international tax, is another crucial responsibility.
* Assisting with the management of ATO and state revenue authority reviews, audits, and disputes is also an important part of this job.
* Supporting broader tax team initiatives and other ad hoc tax projects as required is a further expectation of this role.
Key Skills and Experience
* A Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) qualification is essential for this position.
* Proven experience in a large chartered accounting firm and/or in a large corporate in-house tax function is highly desirable.
* Prior exposure to mergers and acquisitions and tax advisory assignments, including tax research, would be beneficial.
* Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this role.
* Knowledge and experience of GST, transfer pricing, and international tax would be an advantage.
* Demonstrated evidence of strong technical proficiency within Excel is essential.
* Good written and verbal communication skills and a hands-on team player approach are expected.
