The Endoscopy Unit at Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) performs approximately 6,000 procedures per year. Endoscopy enables doctors to examine areas inside the body such as the bowel, stomach and lungs without the need to perform surgery. This includes patients with inflammatory bowel disease, cancer and irritable bowel syndrome. About the role: Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager in Endoscopy Unit, you will provide nursing services in a variety of health service settings which has been consolidated by experience and/or further study with staff at this level developing from competent to proficient practitioners. Duties for the role will include: Assists and supports the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or equivalent in management, clinical, and education activities, Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting, Support nursing/midwifery practice and learning experiences for students undertaking clinical placements, orientation for new staff and preceptorship of graduates, Provide, with increasing capacity over time, support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff, student nurses and other workers providing basic nursing care, Undertaking training as required to attain and maintain required competency of skills and knowledge applicable to the role. About you: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate, Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, Demonstrated competence in area of Endoscopy nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards. (RN2C) - Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience, and proven clinical competence in Endoscopy specialty skills.
