Assistant Grower – Wholesale Plant Nursery
The Green Gallery nursery is a family-owned wholesale plant nursery based in Mangrove Mountain. Since 2006, we've been dedicated to supplying top-quality plants to independent garden centres, wholesale nurseries, landscapers, florists, greenwall installers, councils and other institutions across Australia. Our reputation for quality is second to none in the industry.
We are also in the process of building a brand new nursery, meaning the successful applicant will be working in modern, purpose-built facilities designed to support efficient, enjoyable work — not old, run-down infrastructure. We are a busy wholesale plant nursery seeking a motivated Assistant Grower, however, it is exciting times and this is a great opportunity to be part of something growing from the ground up
This hands-on role supports the day-to-day growing and care of plants across our nursery. You'll work closely with the grower to ensure plant quality, consistency, and presentation meet our high standards.
What you will learn & be doing
You will gain exposure across all aspects of plant production, including:
* Applying pesticides, fungicides and herbicides under direct supervision of the head grower. Ideally you already have your AQF 3 (or above) Chemical Accreditation if not are willing to get it.
* Operating irrigation systems for watering and fertigation
* Potting, planting, pruning and crop preparation
* Monitoring plant health and reporting issues
* Maintaining clean and organised growing areas
* Supporting seasonal production and dispatch periods
* Managing and controlling greenhouse environments
* Crop planning and scheduling
* Plant propagation techniques
* Research, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
* Plant care including watering, spacing, feeding and general maintenance
About You:
* A genuine interest in plants and horticulture
* Reliable, hardworking and able to work outdoors
* Physically fit and comfortable with manual work
* Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
* Previous nursery or horticulture experience is ideal
* Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
* Comfortable working both independently and as part of a friendly, diverse team
* A formal horticulture qualification (desirable but not essential)
