Location and Service
Our Trans and Gender Diverse Health Service, supported by the Statewide Trans and Gender Diverse Service, is based in Newcastle and provides specialist, evidence‐based care to transgender and gender diverse children, adolescents and their families. You'll be part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team including nursing, psychiatry, social work, psychology, speech pathology, paediatrics and adult endocrinology, dietetics, adolescent medicine, GP specialists and administrative support.
Responsibilities
* Deliver specialised psychological services for trans and gender diverse young people and their families, focusing on assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention.
* Conduct face‐to‐face and telehealth consultations, comprehensive psychological assessments including gender dysphoria assessments, and write reports and consult with families and health professionals.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions, clinical review meetings and case formulation, providing expert clinical input for patient‐centred service planning.
* Evaluate therapy outcomes, contribute to quality improvement, research and governance processes, and help shape innovative models of care.
* Exercise independent clinical judgement within professional, organisational, legal and ethical boundaries, influencing practice standards and service development.
Qualifications & Skills
* Registered as a clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsed in clinical psychology via AHPRA.
* Completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification (no less than two years full‐time) or equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board website.
* Experience in complex assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention.
* Confidence exercising independent clinical judgement within an MDT setting.
* Commitment to ethical, patient‐centred care.
* Interest in or experience with gender dysphoria and trans and gender diverse populations.
* Strong report writing and communication skills.
* Commitment to evidence‐based practice and continuous improvement.
* Compassion, professionalism and a strong commitment to delivering high‐quality care to trans and gender diverse young people and their families.

Eligibility
To be eligible for permanent employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport.
