Empower young people's holistic healthcare by joining our multidisciplinary team as a Youth Arts Clinician.
As a Youth Arts Clinician, you will empower and promote holistic healthcare for young people with chronic health conditions and/or disabilities accessing care within the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN). You will work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate youth co-designed and evidence-based arts and creative technologies, methodologies, and interventions through individual and group interventions. The role will work within professional scope to support innovative, diverse and accessible healthcare delivery for young people within SCHN that promotes early intervention and the development of enhanced health literacy, self-management skills and independence as developmentally appropriate. The proposed role will function within clinical environments and spaces where young people access health care, both physical and digital, to improve engagement and experiences. Arts and creative interventions include but are not limited to visual arts, graphic design, audio and sound design, creative writing and performance. Additionally, you will be responsible for undertaking designated education, supervision, professional development, research and quality improvement tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement youth co-designed arts and creative technologies, methodologies, and interventions in clinical environments and spaces.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to young people with chronic health conditions and/or disabilities.
* Conduct individual and group interventions using various art forms, such as visual arts, music, and creative writing.
* Engage in ongoing education, supervision, professional development, research, and quality improvement activities to enhance practice and outcomes.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant health-related discipline that meets the eligibility for State Award.
* Current registration with the relevant professional body.
* Demonstrated clinical experience as a Social Worker/Art Therapist/Music Therapist/Child Life Therapist/Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist/Speech Pathologist/Dietitian/Diversional Therapist.
* Demonstrated skills and knowledge in a variety of creative arts mediums.
* Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent and young adult health needs and the impact of chronic conditions and/or disability on health outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience in working with adolescents and young adults in individual and groupwork modalities.
* Demonstrated contribution to quality improvement and interest in processes related to adolescent and young adult (AYA) care.
* Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to adapt these to meet the needs of young people, their families/carers, health professionals and managers.
* Required work occasional weekends or evenings to provide a service that is accessible to young people.
* Current unrestricted NSW Drivers license (Class C or equivalent).
