We're looking for a Yard Operations Assistant who takes pride in their efforts and is a team player. This is a hands-on, trusted role that sits at the centre of our day-to-day operations, ensuring crews are equipped, materials are controlled and fleet and tools are site ready.
Working closely with our office team, site supervisors and crews, you'll be the go-to person for tools/equipment, materials preparation, fleet readiness and site support.
This role is ideal for someone who wants stability and responsibility without being stuck behind a desk. If you enjoy organisation, problem-solving and seeing the direct impact of your efforts, this role is for you. The role has a solid structure to start with, with room for you to shape day-to-day yard operations, refine processes and put your own stamp on how things are done as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
* Receiving and checking deliveries, storing materials correctly and maintaining records
* Monitoring stock levels and coordinating re-orders with the office team
* Managing tools/equipment movements and condition checks
* Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised warehouse and hardstand
* Supporting fleet readiness, including cleanliness and pre-starts
* Preparing materials and staging areas for current and upcoming projects
* Taking ownership of identifying gaps or inefficiencies in yard operations, proposing effective, practical changes and seeing these improvements through from idea to implementation
About You:
* Experience in a yard, warehouse, logistics or similar environment (civil/construction preferred)
* A strong safety mindset and practical understanding of tools and plant
* Confident communicating and coordinating between office and site teams
* Comfortable using phones, apps and basic digital registers
* Able to work proactively and stay organised in a busy environment
* Comfortable taking initiative and working independently while staying aligned with the team
* Physically fit, reliable and comfortable working outdoors- this is an active, hands-on role
* Driver's licence and own reliable transport essential
* MR/HR licence, forklift and loader tickets are advantageous but not essential
