About us
The Duntroon Community Centre (DCC) has been an integral part of the Canberra region since 1981 through the delivery of programs and services to Defence families and the wider community. DCC operates a three to five year-old Playschool licensed under the Children and Young People Act 2008 and ACT Children’s Service Standards, and overseen by the ACT Education and Training Directorate.
The purpose of the DCC playschool is to provide a caring and nurturing educational environment for children that enhances their individual, emotional, cognitive, physical and language development, enabling each child to develop to their full potential.
Qualifications & experience
Diploma in Early Childhood Services and Care (or Equivalent)
Experience creating programs to support a holistic approach to the care and development of children aged 3-5 years.
Current First Aid, WWVP and WHS knowledge.
Working knowledge of CCS & Family Assistance Law, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge.
Tasks & responsibilities
* To deliver a high-quality service in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the DCC, the philosophy and policies of the DCC and in compliance with the ACT Children's Service Standards.
* To work co-operatively with Playschool staff, families and allied professionals (when required) to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children attending the service.
* To assist in the development and implementation of an educational program that supports a holistic approach to the care and development of children aged from three to five years old.
* Provide and coordinate the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting.

* 20 hours per week during the ACT school term - Monday 9:00am - 11:00am; Tuesday to Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm.
* Playschool operates between 9.30am - 2.30pm Tuesday - Thursday.
