This opportunity is to join the Pilbara Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, based in Karratha. 12-week casual contract – working fulltime Monday to Friday.
Conducting initial assessments, providing intervention and case management services to children and adolescents with mental health problems using evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities
– Conducting initial assessments (including home & community based)
– Providing intervention and case management services to children and adolescents with mental health problems using evidence-based practices
– Providing crisis assessment and crisis intervention for children and adolescents with mental health problems
– Identifying and implementing mental health promotion, education, and community development programs
– Actively participating in interdisciplinary case conferences and clinical team meetings
– Developing and maintaining an extensive community-based network with service providers for the benefit of clients
– Acting as a resource for Pilbara Mental Health and Drug Service staff and other health care providers
– Providing clinical reports (as appropriate to skill and background), support and advocacy for child and adolescent clients
– Convening and attending inter-agency case conferences
– Striving to achieve continuous improvement through participation in Quality Management projects
– Maintaining adequate records and statistical data in accordance with the requirements of the Pilbara Mental Health and Drug Service
– Participating in intake meetings, team meetings, clinical review meetings, and case supervision
– Assisting in the development, planning and evaluation of mental health services
– Complying with Equal Opportunity and Occupational Safety and Health principles, standards, practices, policies, and procedures
– Providing educational programs to clients and families, and to other health professionals and community organisations.
– Participating in staff development programs
About You
– Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing and eligible for full registration with the relevant Registration Board of Australia or AASW
– Sound knowledge and understanding of emotional, behavioural, psychological, and psychiatric disorders of children and adolescents and their treatment
– Advanced experience in assessment, crisis-intervention, treatment and case management of children and adolescents with mental health problems
– Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the principles of prevention and promotion in child and adolescent mental health
– Well-developed written and verbal communication, liaison, team-work and interpersonal skills
– Demonstrated capability in data collection and program evaluation
– Current C class drivers licence and ability to travel within the region as required, including overnight stays
Salary – $55-60 per hour plus super, based on experience
