The Fitter Machinist carries out fitting and manual machining work as directed by the Workshop Lead including general fitting of valves gearboxes and actuators and turning/milling/grinding of various materials. Follows relevant work instructions, procedures, specifications, and acceptable trade practices, ensuring that requirements of the company policies, Quality System and NATA Accreditation and By-Laws are implemented and maintained consistently
Role & Responsibilities
* Follows instruction from the Production Supervisor. Carries out duties in line with the relevant manuals or procedures.
* Understands the setup and the operation of the machines which involves reviewing drawings, verifying speeds and feeds for tooling to produce high quality parts.
* Works as part of a team, contributing to success with ideas and ingenuity to solve problems both effectively and safely.
* Completes all job-related paperwork to a high standard ensuring details are recorded correctly and photos are taken when required.
* Assists the production team in achieving company targets for monthly output, production profit and on-time delivery, thus meeting budget and customer delivery requirements.
* Assists in the continual improvement of production efficiency, improvement in lead times, and reduction of waste.
* Ensures thorough documentation is in place, allowing for trace-ability and certification for all machining and modifications carried out to any customer product.
* Ensures that all work has been completed, inspected and signed off before passing on to the next operation.
* Works with team members to manage production priorities during periods of leave, absence and sickness.
* Inputs into the continual development of and adherence to the QHSE policies and procedures.
* Assists in ensuring equipment and workshop area remains a clean and safe working environment with input into the company performance against the annual HSE Plan.
* Ensures that Quality Policies and Procedures are adhered to and these are reviewed for changes or improvement on a regular basis by using the Corrective Action and Non Conformance reports to identify system compliance and potential changes
* Hold a Fitter Machinist Trade qualification or Fitter Trade qualification
* Have a minimum of 4 years experience as fitter/machinist in a mechanical industry
* Working knowledged of valves and associated equipment an advantage
