About the role
We are looking for a Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitter to join the team on site working on a 7 days, 7 nights, 14 off roster FIFO from Perth. You will be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and inspections across Focus Minerals' processing fixed plant. The role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of key processing equipment—including crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, thickeners, the gold room, and associated infrastructure—through hands-on mechanical work and effective execution of planned, preventative, and breakdown maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
* Conduct mechanical maintenance, repairs, inspections, and fault-finding on fixed plant equipment to support high equipment availability and reliable processing performance.
* Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities as scheduled, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
* Ensure all mechanical tasks comply with statutory obligations, company procedures, and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
* Maintain asset integrity by identifying defects, reporting equipment condition issues, and supporting condition monitoring and reliability initiatives.
* Complete accurate maintenance records, work order notes, parts usage, and inspection documentation within the maintenance management system.
* Work collaboratively with Operations, Electrical, and other maintenance teams to safely coordinate work and minimise unplanned downtime.
* Contribute to shutdown preparation and execution through safe isolation practices, equipment strip-down, rebuilds, and commissioning support.
* Participate in continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to maintenance practices, equipment reliability, and work management processes.
* Actively support a strong safety culture by participating in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, safety checks, and hazard identification processes.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
* Trade qualification in a Mechanical discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in fixed plant or process plant maintenance, preferably within a mining or mineral processing environment.
* Current "C" Class Driver's Licence.
* Current Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications.
* High Risk Work Licence (desirable).
* Strong working knowledge of CMMS systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Demonstrated experience maintaining crushing, milling, and gold processing circuits.
* Proven ability to improve plant reliability, optimise maintenance performance, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
* Experience coordinating plant shutdowns and supervising contractors in a maintenance environment.
