Be part of a high-performing team supporting the safe, efficient and compliant management of Council’s fleet and plant assets. This is a key technical role delivering value across the organisation through informed advice, planning and continuous improvement.

About this opportunity:

The Technical Officer – Plant and Fleet contributes to the coordinated planning, procurement and lifecycle management of Council’s vehicles, plant and equipment to ensure assets are safe, fit-for-purpose and aligned with operational and regulatory requirements. The role provides specialist technical advice, supports strong stakeholder relationships and drives continuous improvement to optimise fleet performance, value and service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

* Assist fleet and plant planning, procurement and replacement programs.
* Contribute to asset lifecycle processes to ensure safety, compliance and value for money.
* Providing technical advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
* Supporting contractor and supplier engagement in line with procurement requirements.
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across plant and fleet operations.
* Monitoring performance, compliance and reporting requirements across the fleet portfolio.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

* Relevant qualification in engineering, automotive, fleet, asset management or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
* Experience in fleet, plant or asset lifecycle management within a complex operational environment.
* Sound knowledge of procurement, compliance and safety requirements relating to plant and fleet.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical, evidence-based advice.
* Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* High level of organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence (or ability to obtain).
